Rebels are overrated ohh lets just do stuff just for the sake of doing it, I'm not a cop but were in a time where we all half to work stuff out and do whats best not because its the right thing to do if we want to continue to survive we will half to. No Im not saying that I hate everyone who classify them self as a rebel I believe in treating people nicely and friendly but its just silly and really embarrassing for people to do that. But I am right here and I really hate SNOW i am tired of cold crappy and SNOW in general. Hope everyone is having a great day and soon I will rent latest saw, H2 and are local video store is finally taking my advice and will order some after dark films. I can't wait!!!!

I'm here!

and BTW halloweennut, I never said I was a rebel and so what if I was? I don't do things to get in trouble, when trouble comes my way, I handle it the best way I can without getting in trouble. BUT the cops here shoot first and ask questions later which diminishes my respect for them even more. Have you seen the story here about the police shooting the ice cream lady over a traffic ticket? Or about the 15 kid who was shot in the head by police when his mother begged them no to. They should have found another way of handling the situation instead of just shooting them dead. Not right, not justified in my opinion.

I've been reading Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, and the the main character, Raskolnikov, offers up an interesting theory regarding obedience to the law. He posits that there are two types of people; ordinary ones and extraordinary ones. Laws and societal mores are for ordinary people, he argues, because they not only require guidelines to keep them in check, but more importantly, they like the orderliness of following rules. Extraordinary people, on the other hand, he argues, have more to offer the world, are the agents of human progress, and therefore shouldn't be confined by the laws of average people. Now keep in mind that this argument is coming from a guy who, at this point in the story, has committed a double axe murder in the course of a robbery, so I doubt Dostoevsky intended his readers to agree with Raskolnikov that there are certain special people who are above the law. It does, however, raise an interesting point well illustrated by history; all major movements that have brought about a change for the better have involved some rebellion against the established law at the time. The patriots of the American Revolution were criminals in the eyes of British Law. Nelson Mandela was jailed for his crimes against South African apartheid. Gandhi led the Salt March in violation of British imposed Indian tax laws. The Civil Rights movement led by Martin Luther King, Jr. was all about nonviolent resistance to segregation laws. The United States has even declared a federal holiday (tomorrow, in fact!) to honor a man who considered violating unjust laws as the greatest way to honor law and order: "An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law. " - MLK, Jr.

So yeah, rebelling for rebellion's sake can seem off-putting, but civil disobedience and even outright law-breaking has an important and useful place in history. And, to get back on topic, HERE I AM! I'M OVER HERE! HI!
