Yeah, I'm convinced that people can discuss religion and politics without burning the topic down, as long as everyone makes a basic effort not to be overly offensive, and to not be easily offended. I don't think it's necessarily reasonable to expect people to respect WHAT others believe, but I think we can all respect THAT others believe.

Don't get me wrong. I love Halloween as it is. Heck, Even the Uber-commercialized Christmas doesn't escape my affection. I just stay happy with the fact that any kind of meaningful observance still exists in this world. And I'm definitely not trying to BUST ANYBODY'S base-BALLS. I just enjoyed your exchange with Mac and wanted to jump in. As I said, It's nice to have a meaningful exchange on a forum that doesn't deteriorate into madness and hastily typed insults.adrian wrote:thats true corvussamhain was one of the 3 days celebrated during hallowmas... Samhain meaning "summer's end" of course... it was the kick off really.. summer being the end of the pagan calender!
a lot of pagans DON'T like the americanized version of halloween because they believe its a stolen tradition from their sacred holidays.. you're definitely right
but we've done to halloween like we've done with santa claus to christmas hahaha we've taken something sacred and have commercialized it into more of a festivity/s of fun and excitement (economy has a lot to do with that)
but hey... that's pagan history, not mine lol i like the american Halloweeni'm a mut i guess

that's very true..
the thing is, is that in here its safe to just keep religious and political views and opinions out of the forum you know... i think they tried that once but just decided that this isn't the place for it (arguments burst out of every corner)
i'll just stick to our simple halloween talk... except now days we seem to chat about food
makes sense though considering the up and coming holidays

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Yes. Because the internet is not something that you just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes!NeverMore wrote:.

You know, adrian, we have wine and cake after observances.
I made my own apple wine during the summer, and it tastes great after communing with nature. I know it's not your thing , but you could come and get fershnickered with us once the circle is down. You to, Mac. We can all talk swords and shark dodging while relieving ourselves on jellyfish wounds.

Re: Why Hell Houses ususally suck... Anti-Gay Haunted House
I make the most simple wine ever. I take a given bottle of Apple juice or cider, add honey and/or sugar, toss in about a table spoon of regular bread yeast, and wait.
It usually takes about a month for the desired effect.
After I did it the first time I did some research and found this to be the oldest method around. Of course in the old days they simply left the crushed fruit and/or juice open to the air so wild yeasts could infiltrate and to their thing. In Spain, I believe it was, they called this apple wine Phetara, but I think that term goes back a ways further.
I am trying to gather enough Dandelion flowers to do just that, Bella.

Let it sit until the fogginess clears and the particulates settle to the bottom. Also the smell of alcohol should be unmistakable. Keep in mind I had a couple of batches that did not make. The yeast simply did not grow. Also keep in mind I'm no wine expert so you might want to get a book on the subject. Any book you find will no doubt be more complicated than my recipe, but worth a look anyway. If at the end of a month your "wine" looks like the inside of Oscar the Grouch's Thermos...don't drink it. This never happened to me or my brother or grandfather, but one never knows.
As for a longer wait...it depends on what you want. Pro wine-makers age the wine for some months to get the alcohol content then they add a material that stops the fermentation so it can be aged. If it continues to ferment in the bottle you will have explosions on your hands.

Re: Why Hell Houses ususally suck... Anti-Gay Haunted House
this sounds like fun
i think it'll be cool to have it to where i can age it for years... and set a specific date... like when i'm 35 or something... something on down the road for me you know? i think that'd be something cool to experience
