I wanted to have a picture of one of the zombies from Dawn Of The Dead for my avatar but I was wondering if that would be illegal because it is a picture I took from the movie without permission. It is on my computer but I would be putting it online if I have it for my avatar.

Yes, you can always copy any photos from your computer, and also, you can check with Google and click on the "Image", then type in the key word zombie.

I put the DVD in the computer and took a screenshot of a zombie. And I am wondering if I would be breaking any copyright laws by using it as my avatar.

You really can't do that to copy dvd and attach it on your signature because since dvd includes copyright material, so you can't go ahead and copy it.
I suggest you go to Google and type in the keyword of the dvd you're looking for, then look up for any images you can copy from there. And, make sure you have to check to get small image size, not too large or medium, you know?
Ok, just go to Google, and click on the Image button then go type in the keyword of the dvd title, and you will see the whole images on the screen so you have to choose your own favorite dvd poster.

I think some copyright laws are stupid. I just take a screen shot from a movie and I am doing something illegal? It is no big deal.
