I usually start the planning at the end of September but this time I have a
lot to organise and last year it got a bit stressful towards the deadline ... Uni comes into swing at the end of September and steals all my time for most of October

so I'm starting the planning at the beginning of August this year (and that's tomorrow) yay!

HOA = Home Owner's Associations...they're a big ole pain in the rear sometimes! Especially when it comes to holiday decorations for the outside of the house. last Christmas season i got a letter (a warning) right after new years to take my christmas decor down. i mean, paleeez!! i always leave my christmas stuff up for new years! a new management company took over our neighborhood right between thanksgiving and christmas last year so im hoping they aren't going to send me another "warning" when i have my halloween stuff up all of october!!!

halloweenqueen - that sounds
terrible!!!!
I think I would probably kick someone's shins if they told me off for having decorations on my house! What party poopers - it's not like you've got piles of rubbish, scrap metal and dead bodies (well, not real one's anyway

hehe) outside is it for goodness sake?! Grrrrrrr

*fumes on your behalf*

I officially start decorating Oct 1st,
but the planning and the dreaming and the scheming and the buying go on pretty much year 'round

I mentioned in another thread earlier that I stopped into Walmart yesterday in hopes of seening some decorations but didn't... Anyway after that I stopped to Frenchys... a great place to find decorations and dishes and ornaments... Anyway I found a cute little mini pumpkin candle holder for a quarter and found another larger pumpkin candle holder with a skeleton coming out of if... Yippiee...oh yeah and yesterday on my lunch break I went to the Pharmasave to pick up some school supplies, anyway they had a few tables outside of left over stock from last year or something... I got 4 bags of cobwebs and 100 treat bags (halloween decorated of course) all for $2!!!! Just had to share my little finds~

It's 30 degrees outside, the sun is shining and it really feels like Summer. I wonder why it is then that for no apparent reason my thoughts turned to Halloween this afternoon. Witchery no doubt!
I usually start to get the vibe around the beginning of September and October is full on Halloween month. there's a balancing act between peaking too early and having the 31st as the icing on the cake. I've been fortunate enough to get it right most years.

I'll start putting out my harvest decorations after labor day. Thereafter I start sneaking in a bit of BOO! as the month progresses. I'm fortunate to not have to cater to the whims of a HOA...just the eye-rolling family and threats of commitment. I can handle those just fine.

LOL!!! Yeah, I hear ya LawP! My neighbor who is moving is clearing out her house... They are a senior couple and so sweet... Anyway she brought over her Halloween decorations to me so it was such a nice surprise. They are modest ones, cutesy kind more of a harvest type of stuff but hey loved it... Anyway this is a fairly large cornacopia laying on my diningroom table , with the fake veggies all placed perfectly that she gave me... I can't wait to really start digging out my stuff. I didn't bother putting my new gifts away... just have them here and there around for now. But when you mentioned the eye rolling stuff I can totally relate... Last night I mentioned that somepeople are starting to put out their Halloween stuff... my spouse just rolled his eyes and said It's August!! I giggled to myself thinking he is going to wake up in September one morning to a haunting surprise when I go bonkers and put up all my stuff!!! LOL... Yeah I am slowly winning my daughter over with the early celebrations... but my son ... well he is very similar to me and the who Halloween thing... Oh my little monster... I just need to convince my spouse and little girl that the dark side isn't all that bad! LOL

I always put up our decorations on September 25th, 'cause it's my b-day and a yearly gift to myself. Can't before then, because my husband would be like, 'oh Good Lord, Baby, a little early, isn't it??' But I say, 'NEVER!!'
