If either of you are interested, on Coast to Coast AM tonight the second half, which typically starts at about midnight on the West Coast, is a discussion about our topic; moving Halloween.

Oh, no, I just now saw this. Can you summarize it?

It really was just an aside as far as the topic in general went.

The guest with someone who is into spiritualism and the occult, excetera excetera,.

All they did was ask everyone who called in to speak with him whether they were a yes or a no regarding changing Halloween.

Well, Murf, you make a good point. I'm of European decent, and Columbus did open up America for colonization, and I suppose there are some places where his holiday is taken more seriously then it is here. And you also have a point about a 3 day weekend. Perhaps Halloween should simply be left alone and the way it is. After all, it will fall on a Saturday in Oct of 2020, and come to think of it, half the fun of Halloween were all the parties and Halloween related activities we did in school when it was on a school day. It was more or less a 'blow off' day, and the teachers didn't assign homework, or at leas not until I was I n high school.

The witches shall surely place curses on people if this is changed.

As much as I would love to see Halloween (October 31st) become a legal holiday, I think the best thing to do is to leave it alone. I have to agree with Murf and others. Halloween, at present, has no political affiliations, and I would hate to see it be politicized. It's bad enough that every election year it's over shadowed by the presidential election and various other political campaigns. The good news there is that only happens every 4 years. That said, let's just leave Halloween the way it is, the way it was celebrated for countless years. Chang is NOT always for the better.

The corporate ogres try this every year. They try to rob us 'Weenies of several days of Halloweenmonth just to make a few extra bucks. Party City, Spirit, Jack Daniels.... EVERY year they try this. It will NEVER work.

Corporate America is always going to try tp pull a profit out of everything. BUT, I am not going to let that water down my celebration of the day. Yes, I did purchase a few Halloween decorations and lights, and yes, I will probably be purchasing more, but I STILL say, leave Halloween alone. Halloween is NOT about religion, NOT about politics, and NOT about corporate profits. Halloween is about jack o'lanterns, candy, horror films, Trick or Treat, parties and other creepy fun.

October 29th is my oldest nieces wedding anniversary. I video recorded her wedding, which was in Oct of 2005. It's an easy enough date to remember, and I think it's pretty neat.
