My oven -- it's working again today!
The thing was officially declared dead after months of problems -- it's my home's original oven and is 16 years old. Every so often, I try to see if it will work. It never does, but yesterday, out of the blue, it started working again, as if it never had a problem in the first place! It's working again today. So I went to the grocery store and bought all these foods that I haven't been able to cook for the last few months. It's been fun! Yesterday, I heated up a frozen pizza, and cooked a small roast and potatoes for dinner. Right now, as I'm typing, I have a batch of brownies baking and I'm cooking a chicken for dinner. Everything I've been cooking has been food that you can prepare on a stovetop or heated up in a microwave. We will be replacing the oven pretty soon here. It's not worth getting it fixed between the cost of the service call, the repairs and the parts, considering the age of the appliance. Besides, we're changing out all our appliances since they're pretty shot and outdated.

Re: What made you happy today? :)
Same thing at home! we abused the oven on Thanksgiving and it stopped working. Still waiting on a service call.
I brought home a take-n-bake pizza one evening and it wouldn't heat up. I nuked it but the crust wouldn't bake. I ended up cutting it up and pan frying each piece.
I do not recommend this method

Re: What made you happy today? :)
That's exactly what happened to me the night I declared our oven dead -- I tried for 50 minutes to bake a frozen pizza with no luck so I gave up. I tried to cook it in a skillet on top of the stove and it did not work!Andybev01 wrote:Same thing at home! we abused the oven on Thanksgiving and it stopped working. Still waiting on a service call.

What has been happening with our oven, which is a GE wall unit, is when the display reads 100 degrees, it shuts off. Sometimes it would take one or two tries to get the oven going, other times right away, while other times it would take seven or eight tries. That night with the frozen pizza was the worst. Yesterday it worked right away and today it worked after three tries.

I wouldn't last 48 hours without a working oven. I'd rather give up my computer or television then the oven.
