so my dad's doing a little better
he's still in a coma, but the swelling's going down. he stopped bleeding and the blood on his brain's draining. he had a tracheotomy and seems to be doing well.
i'm in such a good mood now that i took my daughter to a pumpkin patch and i'm thinking about decorating a little (not much coz of the whole moving thing). so i need some ideas. something simple (other than pumpkins hay, and spider webs) that are easy to put up and can be thrown out

rosie:
So glad that things are stabilizing a bit both with yur Dad's condition and with life-issues (like moving, blleeccchhh!). Good for you to take a little time for yourself and your family. pumpkin patches are cheery, aren't they?
As far as the decorating goes, I still say that nothing say HALLOWEEN like a good 'ol JOL!! But you know what my secret Halloween decorating vice is?? Window clings. Yep, 99cent plastic to slap on a window. I look forward to them every year. My back porch has a screen door with a big glass insert for winter, and every year I do the whole thing, top to bottom. They are both inexpensive and disposable.
Well, there's my 2 cents worth. Glad you found a little joy.
Hugs,
Hooch

rosie, That's such wonderful news about your father
What fantastic news indeed! And thats awesome you made it to the pumpkin patch too
As far as the decorating aspect goes. I think Mama Hooch has some fantastic ideas. And what about those Scarecrow, Witch, Grim Reaper garden stakes, you can often finds them at dollar stores, and you could stick them anywhere, in a front garden, in a flower pot by your front door? What about an inexpensive door wreath? A few bats hanging from a front porch light, porch cover. Really anything you'd love you could probably find something close at dollar stores, thrift stores, and when you needed to move you could just drop them off at a thrift store, or give them to neighbours who may share the spirit.

I'm so happy to hear that your father is getting better, Rosie - that's fantastic news!
My prayers are still with him to keep his recovery steady and strong. I think it's great that you are thinking of decorating a little bit to take your mind off of the true horrors of all the stressful events around you - I think Mama Hooch and DOD have already given you some wonderful ideas, and I'm just going to add one more:
Maybe black and orange balloons? They are cheap, very visual, easy to put up and when you're done, just pop them
