Cute Name; Mad Trick or Treaters

The marketer of baby carrots would like you to "treat" your trick or treaters this year to Scarrots instead of candy. Scarrots are bags of baby carrots in a sealed pouch. Although this is a super cute name and a nice concept. I must stand up for the kids and say boooooo to the concept of giving out carrots instead of candy. I know we have an obesite problem in the U.S., and I know carrots, I mean Scarrots, are better for kids than candy. But must we ruin all the fun of Halloween? I'm all for moderating the intake of the candy your kids score while trick or treating, but it really takes the joy out of trick or treating when the treat turns out to be carrots.

I agree with that, iHaunt. There is definately a place for good nutrition in a childs life, and obeasity is a problem, but it seems that every fun tradition is under attackt these days. It's like giving out tooth brushes and samples of tooth paste. It spoils the fun. Besides that, Halloween comes once a year, and yes I will grant you that people eat abusively during Thanksgiving and Christmas, too, but I seriously doubt that going Trick or Treating once a year is going to make anyone more or less obeas then they already are.

if people started handing out tooth brushes, apples, and other healthy foods and hygiene goods kids would stop TOT'ing and Halloween would die.....

This might be a fun thing to give to adults but Halloween candy isn't a major contributor to obesity in kids. It's parents who don't know how to cook and substitute high-fat foods for nutritional ones.

Well, actualy I kind of liked Raisens. I did get a few boxes of Sun Maid raisens in my TOT bag, and I liked them. My mom also use to pack them in my school lunghes. (The school I went to didn't have hot lunches. We had to bring out own, except for two days out of each month when we had hot dogs.)

Some TOTers will beg for a sweet treat. Unless, someone put them in a carrot cake then hand them out and they should forget about it.
