Gah! Nearly missed it

Post by Boo » Mon Oct 29, 2007 8:32 am

Bloody Hell! It's Halloween the day after tomorrow.
This time last year I'd been trawling (not trolling! :-), the Halloween forums for a month, prepared my decorations, planned some activities for my sisters kids, and just doing the whole October thing for 4 weeks.
But this year I've been so preoccupied with work, the rugby world cup, social life etc that I've been ambushed by Halloween; and suddenly I'm panicking.
I feel like I've woken up at 9pm on Xmas day, or switched on the tv to catch the last ten minutes of the world cup final. I have to squeeze maximum entertainment into the shortest time. Working tomorrow but I've booked the afternoon of the day itself off.
Have any of you guys found yourselves in similar situations in the past? If so what did you do to turn things around quickly?

Hope you're all enjoying the season.

Boo
The steeples are white in the wild moonlight,
And the trees have a silver glare;
Past the chimneys high see the vampires fly,
And the harpies of upper air,
That flutter and laugh and stare.

Well, you're really cutting it close! I had the realization that it was SO close about 11 days ago, and I just kicked it into gear. It does sneak up on ya though! October 8th= all the time in the world. October 13= PANIC MODE!

Amen to that Boo!! I did the same thing last year and ran around like a fool on Halloween trying to gather as much party supplies as possible! I threw some decorations about the place, set up a huge playlist of music on my computer, got some quick-to-prepare party snacks, used a costume I had used the night before as my fancy dress, called everyone up, blew up some balloons and put them up outside, lit a Jack O'Lantern and sat back with some friends, some drinks and nibbles and had a pretty chilled Halloween.

This year has been months in the planning and it's now coming down to the crunch. I have tons of decorations that need to go up but I need a spare pair of hands (which I don't have right now) and I need less mess in the flat!!! I also need to make the finishing touches to my costume before tonight is over so that tomorrow I can concentrate on getting the flat in order and getting all the food shopping in. Tomorrow night, I'm hoping most of the prep will be done and I will be able to sit down with a big bowl of popcorn and M&Ms and watch some scary movies to get me in the mood for the following day.

There's still time, Boo - you can do it! :D

Life just seems to happen and there's not really a whole lot you can do about it. You have to pick your priorities and hope for the best.... OH and on TOP of all that, there's no telling when life will throw you a curve ball or two.

I've been enjoying Halloween everyday since I first come onto the forum now that it's almost here. AHHH!!!
I've been so wrapped up in moving so I could be closer to work then I get FIRED from that job and I now have a six month lease in the middle of NOwhere. So, now it's back to driving to who KNOWS where and my car is on it's last leg as it is....... This has not been a particularly good year and I almost just want it over with......

What was the question?
